JOB SUMMARY
The Field Associate plays a critical role in supporting construction projects by assisting with on-site activities, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating logistics, providing support to the construction team; visits all construction sites to assist with active projects; helps with time management, labor, and materials; completes a full scope estimate of work that needs to be done such as mechanical, roofing, electrical, drywall repairs, and flooring for each of the properties; helps to maintain smooth operations and efficient project execution
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine the overall cost for construction projects.
- Assist Project Manager with preparation of estimates for entering into job cost.
- Assist in the coordination of daily activities on the construction site and complete necessary estimate.
- Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure work progresses as planned.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and report any safety violations or concerns.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, permits, and reports. Including taking field notes and capturing photographs of worksites.
- Assist in project scheduling, budget tracking, and cost control activities.
- Oversee the delivery and storage of construction materials and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or excesses.
- Act as a liaison between the construction team, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Keep stakeholders informed of project progress and any changes in plans.
- Report daily activities, issues, and challenges to the project manager.
- Participate in quality control inspections to ensure work meets project specifications and standards.
- Identify and report any defects, errors, or deviations from plans.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues and challenges.
- Support waste management and recycling efforts on the construction site.
- Estimate materials needed for various projects and have such materials on hand.
- Constructs and repairs tables, benches, cabinets, counters, and other wood equipment. May perform or assist in other related building trades, such as plumbing, painting and electrical work.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's Degree in construction management or a related field; or 1 to 5 years as a construction estimator or previous experience in the construction industry.
- Residential Restoration experience is a plus.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License.
- Understanding of construction best practices, safety regulations, general building codes, and various building types.
- Understanding of market prices, measuring windows, measuring square footage.
- Knowledge of life expectancy of water meter, gas meter, and roof.
- Knowledge of construction processes, tools, and equipment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Considerable knowledge of the tools, materials and supplies used in the trade and in their application.
- Knowledge of the care and safe usage of power tools.
- Proficiency in using construction management software and Google Suite.
- Ability to work from sketches or blueprints.
- Ability to adhere to tight schedules and maintain work quality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Walking around the construction site, climb stairs or ladders, and navigating through various areas of the construction project.
- Manual tasks requiring physical exertion, such as moving small items or assisting with site setup.
- Lifting heavy materials and equipment.
- Regularly using telephone and e-mail for communication.
- Communicating orally with clients, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group.
- Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and prepare or inspect electronic documents.
- Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computers, calculators, and copiers.
- Good reasoning, organizational, and analytical abilities are required to solve a wide range of business problems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed with a significant amount of time on construction sites, often outdoors with busy and noisy environments. Various weather conditions, such as extreme heat, cold, rain, or wind, depending on the location and season of the construction project. Some time is spent in a home office setting sitting for an extended period of time. Regular travel between different construction sites or between home office and construction sites with use of automobile.
Compensation: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
